1/2"-8 ACME 2 Start (4 turns per inch)

Has anyone in oz found a local supplier for twin start?

I rang up the manufacturers of acme in Sydney and they thought I had two heads.

Still not sure whether to go threaded rod or timing belt pulley.

    Cheers

    Hey Andy,

I've decided to use timing belts for the X-Axis on mine.
The length of rod required, plus the nut will cost heaps, comapared togoing toa wrecker and pulling the timing chain off a twin-cam unit.

    Hows the project progressing?

Good thought and would like to explore it further.

Do you fancy chatting over lunch? I can come into the city any day really.

Projects coming along well. gantry now rough assembled and operating. Just starting on getting the bearings assembled on the y axis. Still have some significant on-going design issues to overcome. Was reading a thread this morning about yaw and pitch. Fantastic article but it highlights that my design is prone to problems in that regard. I can overcome it but it will all take time to work through. I find the design aspect absolutely fascinating.

Would love to hear about the problems you've been having to solve.
