    Question Any Suggestions?

(chair)Hi all. I have been running Fanuc's for over 15 years and now have been "given" a new Okuma LB2000EX Space Turn with tailstock to learn to run. Why the first job was "HOT!" is beyond me. I'm not stupid but this is a real learning curve for me. There was an offer for Software from the sales people to make my job easier. The owner hasn't responded to this at all so far. So away I go two weeks later I finally have it set up and programmed. The Exedrin bottle is empty and so is my desire to plug away every day in utter frustration. Any opinions on getting thru this sane?
    Thanks,
    trampus/phx.

Wish you were closer to me, I'd have you feeling confident within a week. If you tell
me the model control, I can send you a training .pdf file that will be a good cheat for
    you.

    hi trampus,

i think u was programming the Fanucs by G-code, also u can chose this way
on all Okumas, thats the way i always use on my okumas. the G-code is not so mutch different then to the Fanuc, but more easy.

first, please believe, it's easy. This machine has IGF most likely. This makes things even easier. Ask step by step and You will start.
It's normal to start cutting at first day for new Operator with that machine.

    P200 Control is great

If you are used to G-Coding a lathe, then you will love this control. Much
more powerfull than fanuc if you like using variables in programming.

    Please, narrow your question:
is machine ready to work, or You need to set up it also?

After getting everything worked out alarms cleared and chips are moving. I am using a tailstock and two milling attachments. It's been since 1995 I had the last new machine to run. Simply love this Okuma. It's just a blast to work on. AND the fun has only started. I was surprised to have to put a gcode in the beginning of the program to make it happy using a tailstock. M157. M05 helps too. Thanks......

Hello. I used to work for a Okuma distributor so i have all training manuals for lathes and the new P200 electrical control that you get when you go to the Okuma classes on a distributor level. Let me know your e-mail and i can get this stuff to you. The P200 electrical class in pretty in depth and should help you greatly. Also any troubles you might have i am sure we will be able to help you out. Happy machining and you made a great choice going with a new Okuma lathe.

did the dist AE come out for free training as they are suppose to? If not call Okuma USA directly and tell them the dist is NOT supporting the product. And ask for Larry Schwartz. Heads will roll!! that would be cool.
