    Dremel Router bits

Hello - I have just finished building the Solsylva 13X13 machine and it is working great (so far). It sports a Dremel for the router. However, I don't know what type of bit I should use for general carving in wood. Also, any suggestions on the speed settings would be appreciated too. Thanks!

    Dremel

What model of Dremel are you using. Dremel makes several models. For general engraving on wood, I use a 60 degree engraving bit. It has a 1/4 inch shaft.

The one I have mounted at this time is a Craftsman Rotary Tool, model 572.610031, and I also have a Dremel MultiPro 395. Both (interchangeably) accept only 1/8th inch shaft tools.

I was looking yesterday at sprial router bits, but the smallest shaft dia I could find was 1/4 inch. Is there any type of adapter that would allow 1/4 inch shafts to be used?

Very nice bits available here: http://www.precisebits.com/

Also, I would suggest you move away from the Dremel/Multi-tool route. These devices are not very precise. You will be able to get MUCH better performance from a trim router, something like the Bosch Colt is a good suggestion. These also support 1/4" bits, and Precise Bits makes a 1/8" collet for it as well.
