    acromatic 950 RS232 problem

    hello:
we have been using floppy's for years on this machine, but now my boss wants to use a computer to load and unload programs as floppys are becoming obsolete.
i can load a program using load, line ,start.
when i try to download nothing happens.it just sits there waiting.
i've tried changing parameters in both the control and the machine but still nothing happens. when i upload to the machine everything is fine.
    any suggestions?

Yeah forget the rs232 they are to slow. Floppies are still readily available if you look. However what i personally reccommend is there is a couple companies that have made a floppy to usb drive. So you order this in simply plug in place of the existing unit and now use your jump drive to load programs. I permanetly installed one on our Haas tool room mill as it does a lot of one of programs. We then can have a spare for all our cincinati machines and plug it in where needed also works well on old mazatrol that did not have pcmcia cards. And to be honest we just installed two mori mills and apparently the usb is now a standard option.

Your boss don't want the program to miss place and run around....... like a chicken got their head cut off when operator on vacation and no one is know where is the program at I don't blame him.
I don't know what machine you have or type of control, but try the link below.

The best way to learn is trial error.

well, i have an acromatic 950 release 2 version 3.
i've used cnc simulator, ncnet, and easytalk.
all of the software can load a program. but after making changes to the program i cant download them back to the computer.
i have to use at least 4 floppys to extract the program for archiving.
if i can download to the comp i can just either use usb or cd.
