Machine will be driven on the X Y and Z axis via 230 VAC three phase servo motors. X and Y are driven with Aerotech NEMA 42 BA series motors and the Z is and Allen Bradley NEMA 23. These are all driving ball screws.

The Z axis is able to gimbal laterally through a CAMCO indexer. It's motion is commanded by a VEXTA 5 phase stepper motor as is the rotary axis that runs parallel to the X axis.

In a nutshell, the machine is a 3 axis X,Y,Z with a tilting deep z axis and the addition of the rotary stage to rotate the material to be machined parallel to the X axis. The example I like to use is it will have the ability to carve a totem pole all the way around. It can also go beyond a simple 3 axis machine because of the tilting Z. This allows for undercuts a 3 axis machine would be incapable of.
