    hardinge dv 59 turret lathe tapping head

    i bought a 9x18 turret lathe from hgr industrial today.i am going to be tapping a lot do i need a tapping head or is there a reverse on these machines.i have a tapmatic for my drill press i was wondering would this work in the turret.

    My understanding is that a tapping head won't work in the tailstock because the shaft needs to rotate. I can't say for sure but that's what I've heard.

    You might look into a "releasing tap holder" which is commonly used on turret lathes. There are usually several for sale on ebay.
