    1/4" Spoilboard surfacing

Anyone have a good suggestion for a MDF spoilboard surfacing bit that will fit my 1/4" collet?

    Thanks,
    Scott

You can get a door hinge mortising bit which comes 1-1/8" and 1-3/8" size. You should ramp them in because they are not center cutting.

Can buy these at any Home Cheapo or Sears...

Thanks Louie. Just found some as you replied:

    Freud
    CMT
    $20 with shipping

    Whiteside
    ~$24 w shipping

Unless you recommend otherwise, think I'll try the Freud, for no reason other than I've heard the brand name before.

Louie: Any advise for speed and feed for one of the 1.25" mortising bits skimming MDF?

I believe I was running them at 125ipm, very shallow DOC like .020" at about 10krpm-12krpm. A little faster spindle speed than normal but for surfacing I think it helps. I use a 60% rDoC (stepover...)
