Re: 1993 VF2 Magnetek Spindle Driver Failure

I know this is an old thread, but it helped me find Precision Zone for a problem I'm having with my 1992 VF2. After upgrading my main board and software for the mill, I had problems tapping a 3/8-18 NPT thread in aluminum....something I had no problem with before. After doing a lot of trouble shooting, the HAAS tech said it had to be in the spindle drive. I called Precision Zone and they were great to work with on helping me do some additional trouble shooting....same conclusion. Pricing has changed a bit since this thread started. A new drive, in round numbers $4000, a rebuilt $2400, with core $1700. Or send your drive in for them to repair it $1200. My point, don't hesitate to do business with Precision Zone, really nice and knowledgeable folks there.
