I have a 2000 yr model northwood 510 cnc with only 1800 hrs that I bought months ago. I can start my spindle with the direct remote but it wont start when programmed.Could my spindle be bad if it runs perfectly when started directly but wont run when program starts. Any help or referral for a great northwood tech would be much appreciated. Thanks

Well lets go through what we know:

The mechanical circuit seems fine reasoning, if you are able to start the spindle direct.

1. Contact for the spindle is supplying 3 ph power to the start the spindle.

2. Control power that pulls in the contact for spindle power is fine.

3. Spindle is starting up with the direct remote, so the spindle is fine.

So either it is the program itself, try running a older program that you know has ran in the past. If the spindle still does not start up.

Then I would suspect that is the signal from the control board to the spindle circuit, it maybe something as simple as a connection loose. It sounds like what ever control signal closes that contact for spindle power is not being supplied.
