    I do like the "Bridge Approach" (dual rails straddling the z axis) on your Y axis (its a favorite of mine too). If I could suggest:
    consider rotating the z axis 90 degrees (about the z- vertical) - you might have an easier time changing bits in it.
    That assumes you'll have access to the table along the X axis - which is most common. Any way you look at it - you'll be giving up working footprint - but make changing bits a bit easier.

    Sorry for a very late response - but yes! Nice dagream too. You can see readily how your layout will prevent torsion (bending) as a result of the router/spindle weight being asymetricly mounted on the Y axis. You do have to make sure the Y axis members are rigid enough to prevent bending in the Z axis though.

    I am also a experience work on 3D studio max.. I learn it when we have 3d max ver 4 and now its ver9
