Hi
I have a taig mill and the sherline rotary table. I also have another headstock from the taig micro mill and a 4 jaw chuck.
Would it be a good idea to used this headstock to support long work pieces?

You'll have to make a plate of some kind to hold it to the bed of your mill in the correct position. The important thing is to make sure the centers of the rotary table and the headstock you're using as a tailstock line up exactly. A real tailstock has the ability to lever or crank itself into tightness, but you can put a dead-center into your spare headstock and keep pressure on it as you tighten it down. It will act as a live center, since the headstock will still revolve.

Some of the parts I make are made from T section aluminium. It would work better if the piece is held at both ends rather then if a center point is used
