    And another ATC/Tapping video

    Ok so here is another video for you. UCCNC with UC-300. CNC4PC M44 daughter card and a C32 BOB. Plus an additional CNC4PC opto input board and a relay output board. DG4S-16035 drives on X,Y,Z and A and an old rutex drive on the C axis which runs the ATC carousel.

    The part that I’m running is an aluminum casting. I’m using all 10 slots in my ATC. There are 13) 3X.5mm, 7) 4x.7 and 4) 5X.8 blind threaded holes in each one. I’m using thread forming taps.

    The video is a bunch of clips I shot during production and I edited them together. It’s mostly tool changes, drilling and tapping. It’s nothing fancy but will give you an idea of what can be done with UCCNC. I did a total of 30 pieces and had zero problems but most importantly, zero broken taps.

    A big thanks to Vmax549 for putting together the ATC macro for me. I imagine Mach3 will not be returning to this machine. It is already much more reliable plus it has rigid tapping.

    Thanks
    Derek

    Derek;
    Who built the tool changer and is there info on the build?
    I kind of like the design!
    Thanks in advance.

    Dereks ATC design is a WELL thought out design. It allows the ATC to be well out of the way of chips . With a simple adapter bracket it could be fitted to about anything out there. HIS tool holder grippers are one of the best design out there in the DIY land.

    Fast and simple and to the point, A very good ATC.

    IF it can work on a Bridgeport type mill it can work on anything as a BP is "" THE "" hardest to adapt to.

    It also has all the needed safety sensors to help make it monkey proof. (;-). The extra help is the UC300 has a ton of extra I/O to work with and the Macro scripting is VERY powerful and fairly easy to work with. THAT is a big plus.

    Hi Bill
    Here is a pretty detailed post I did on the mach forum when it was pretty much done. It has a lot of info.

    Time to show off my ATC

    Like Terry said it's a pretty simple design that really takes a beating.

    Edit: I just scrolled through the pictures. It was so CLEAN AND NEW

    Thanks Guys;
    I do like the design and may use (parts of) it on my build scheduled for this winter. I have to finish my drawbar first and install it on my Novakon Torus Pro!
    Not a lot of space on this machine.
    Many thanks again.

    They key to my design is all the proximity sensors I use. There is a sensor at the end of every travel. Terry wrote the macro to turn on an output and wait for a sensor, when it sees the sensor turn on the next output. I have been using the tool changer at least 3 days a week since dec 2012.
