    Anilam Crusader M CRT help

My Crusader M's monitor has started scrolling vertically. For the first 45 minutes after turning it on, it scrolls very quickly with double vision
then it settles down and works fine for 4-5 hours then scrolls very very slowly. Does anyone know if there is vertical hold adjustment or the like? I can't find much help in my schematics.

    Thanks in advance
    Ben

Open the control unit. You will find some potentiometers (trimmers ) and wtih handscrew, try to turn them, until you do not get good screen.

    Hello,
I did fix my CRT problem but I've got another Crusader M problem. My servos motors won't power up. I ran thru the diagnostics and everything passed. I've checked my
E stop circuits on the axis and they are fine. The driver boards light up inside the cabinet. Any suggestions on where to start?

    Thanks in advance,
    Ben

From memory, the power to the servo drives goes through a relay. On pressing reset with the estop out, the relay should come in and give 120 volts to the servo. If the relay does not come in, it is quite a job tracing the fault. I had several burnt PCB tracks and faulty relays.

If you have power on the servo and motors don't move, press the arrow keys and you will get a fault once the error between the required value and actual value is large. If you get this, check the wires to the encode and encoder brushes.

Pressing the reset button (with E-stop out) and the relay switch in Auto activates the
X and Y servo drives but the servos motors are not getting power. Trying to jog in X or
Y trips the relay and I get a servo disconnect. I checked for loose wire in the encoders
    and found everything was tight.
Do you think the manual/auto switch could be bad and would it cause this problem?
Just cleaning it up a bit with contact cleaner caused the X and Y driver boards to stop
functioning for a while this afternoon.
How do I inspect the encoder brushes? I'm not sure where they are?

    Thanks in advance,
    Ben

It looks like you are getting power to the servo boards. If you have a scope handy, you will see a signal out the servos even if the drives are not moving. The Servo output goes through a inductor (looks like a transformer) and then to the drives. Check all the wires are connected. (Do not fiddle with the pots on the servo drives, I'll talk you through that later.)

The servo motor has 4 brushes and are under small plastic caps on the side of the motor.

    Cheers Wallace
