    Aspire and mach3

Hi all I was looking at Vcarve/Aspire and some one I know who makes signs said he has it.

So I went there to pick up his laptop to have a play.

The problem I have is when I do a machine run through in Aspire (2.5 btw)
it looks fine as soon as I get it into mach3 its all screwed up and would cause a major crash.

here is a pic of the Aspire

    and now in mach3

as you can see the cuts drop loads and if I was to run this for real then I would plunge into the work piece lucky for me I am only looking at the out put via mach3 and not sending it to a machine.

any ideas please as I dont have long as when he is back he will want his laptop back

    Thanks all

    the PP I used is

    Mach2/3 Arcs (ince) (*.txt)

    Hey thanks for the reply.

I have checked as much as I can its odd that it shows good in Aspire but then when it gets to mach3 it goes mad.

Any one got an answer? or some thing else I can try next.

    thanks

Without seeing the files, it's very hard to guess what's going on.

Many, many users use Aspire with Mach3 with no problems. Myself included.

As mentioned above, ask at Vectric's forum and you might get an answer quicker.

I can't think of anything that could give you one toolpath in Aspire and a diffrent one in Mach3. Unless you have another in Aspire that isn't shown and you're exporting the wrong one?

Well this is a complete loss.

If I import a bitmap for tracing then create a profile cut around it as per pics on me first post in Aspire its fine.

In mach3 it comes out as me second pic with the blue lines dropping randomly around the cut.

    Mach3 version is

    Version R3.042.020

    OK this is another example

in Aspire made with just the curve draw tool

    in mach3

    in aspire

    in mach3

so as you can see for some reason in mach3 it decides to randomly lower the Z axis though in Aspire it show it as being perfect.
    Thanks

    Hi, stk2008.

I can't tell you what's causing that to happen, but it looks like Mach is showing the right toolpath.

Pic shown below is of your gcode, backplotted in CamBam.

Hello and thanks for taking the time to test my Gcode.

Um so even in CamBam (did not think of trying it in there) it still does it.

This is very weird because as you can see in Aspire it looks perfect.

    Thanks again

    EDIT

You may or may not be interested but this is the thread on the Vectric forums

There's something going on in your friends version of Aspire.

I opened Aspire, and created a similar shaped curve, and created a multiple pass toolpath. Opened in Mach3, it looks exactly the same as in Aspire.

In yours, the Z depth is changing on nearly every line of code. The profile toolpath doesn't do that.

Has your friend perhaps made some strange modifications to the post processor?

And btw, next time, upload the .txt file here, so I don't have to deal with 2 or 3 pop up windows to get it.

    Hi again Ger21.

I really could not tell you if he has changed that.

Would you be able to or any one be able to post me the mahc3 PP I use inch so the ATC and none ATC post would be great (fingers crossed he has been a numpty and messed with it or prey to god it wasn't me...there's a thought :O maybe I did some thing as he never said of this issue to me)
at least if I have another copy of it and it still does this then I can then move on to some thing else to try and figure this issue out but till I get a fresh PP then I think I should be looking there.

    Thanks Ger21.

Aspire works... If you are having a issue with the Mach PP then email Vectric support. They will help figure out your particular issue, if you have a valid copy.

Hi EBC I dont think its the post as I tried the Gcode post and it does the same and on Vectric website they say that the Gcode post should still work in Mach3.

    Hello,

Just to let everybody know the answer to this one.
The copy of the software on stk2008's "friends" laptop, turned out to be a "corrupted" copy that was obtained from a source other than Vectric or one of their OEM partners.

This is why other users that tried to replicate the problem that stk2008 was seeing,
    were unable to do so.

    Cheers,

    Mark.

Hi Mark_Moran I just came back in here to tell every one the problem to put straight that it was NOT your software.

You say corrupted but lets tell them the truth I believe it was a dodgy copy and I sent you an email saying I confronted my friend over this he did not seem to want to talk about it.

So I am very very sorry every one I can only apologise for all the confusion I have caused and would like to point out that I had no idea that this was a possible (more than likely was) cracked copy.

    Thanks and sorry to all.

    Hello stk2008,

I was using "corrupted" as a euphemism.

    Cheers,

    Mark.
