Axis travel (physically measured) doesn't match Mach3

I have a Zenbot 2424 CNC Router, about 6 months old. I haven't used it much lately, after sitting for about a month, now I'm having an exasperating problem:

If I jog the X axis 10" across the table (I placed marks on the table and aimed for those), the Mach 3 readout only shows about 9.375"

If I try and move only 2.25", the readout shows about 2.125, so it seems to multiply as the distance moved increases.

Anyone have any suggestions? I can only think to re-install Mach3 or get the manufacturer to send me a new control box.

Think in diagnostic? Anyway, you just tell it how far to move, then put in the actual movement amount.

should the Z axis dip switches be set as the X,Y ? Because right now I am running my machine 1/2 steps, I asked around and some say 1/8 steps but it just moves so darn slow. What shall I do?
    Thank you

    Hello
i think your problem is adjust and set the distance in the axis ,you have to :

    1- open your mach3 ,
    2-click on settings Alt6
3-click on "Set steps per Unit"
4-A window will appear and ask you to put a number of the distance in inchs, for exemple put 10 ,and click on OK.
5-the axis will move and it stop you should Measures the distance ,for exemple you will find 9.39 inch ,a window will appear and you write this value .
finally the program will give you the caluculated steps and the velocity and acceleration,
your axis will move with the new values so you can get a exact distance from your G code
