BP Series 1 - what can I rip out after a BOB Controler/Mach3 upgrade?

ok, machine is running, now I want to neaten things up.

What exactly can I rip out of the machine after I convert from BOSS 5 controller to BOB Controller with MACH3?

I took out the tape reader, and the controller cards (XDI, etc) and backplane mounting box. Is there anything else that can go?

Thanks for any help you can provide. I'll try to take some pics to show what has been done so far today and post them later. Thanks.

    Brian,

The power supply to the right of the card cage you removed can go. It will leave a heat sink hole in the back of the cabinet that should be pluged.

The original pendant can also be removed but the LIMIT OVERRIDE will have to be relocated. It is connected with the two twisted blue and purple pairs.
( One pair is for the switch and one pair is for the light.)

    Everything else is used.

    Thanks!

I thought it could go, as far as i could tell it was just powering the control boards to the left. I'm so afraid to cut something I shouldn't :-) I know it could be fixed, i just feel guilty, b/c it is VERY evident that a lot of thought went in to wiring these machines way back when in 1977.

As for the user interface, i want to see if I can just pull the wires through, I'm really trying to get my hands on an analog 15" or 17" LCD screen. Haven't been able to procure one of those yet.

BTW, the kids now affectionally call the BP Series 1 "BOB" (after the control board). And as the kids would say, "BOB Rocks!"

    Thanks again.
