    Break Out Board - Wiring Diagram?

    Hi,

    I received the following board as a direct replacement for a C10 Break Out Board... Don't ask why?

    Does anyone know what the Jumpers J4 and J1 do. A simple .pdf would be really appreciated if anyone can help

    The board is to interface to Geckodrive G251 drives and I require it to have the common terminals grounded and not at +5v, I don't know that this board will let me.

    More info...

    Optical- Isolated I/O

    1 pcs 6 axis breakout board, Built in Optical-Coupler. Surface-Mount

    DB25 Male connector.
    DB25 Output:P1,P2,P3,P4,P5,P6,P7,P8,P9,P14,P16,P17.
    DB25 Input: P10,P11,P12,P13,P15.
    DB25 GND: P18-P25.
    Power supply: +5V DC.

    Wiring Diagram: http://www.kelinginc.net/KL4030WiringDiag.doc it is not enough though

    Here is more info
    JP1 and Jp2 are used to select the 5v power supply or 10v power supply.When you use 5v power supply, you jump JP1 and JP2.
    If you use 10V power supply, do not jump the JP1 and JP2.

    J4 is a input for power supply 10V, You can use J4 or terminals
    J1 is same pins of P2 to P6. You can use J1 or P2 to P6 terninals

    Well Mariss is unsure, if he is not sure and he designed the drives I am not going to chase this anymore, so I will be sending it back and getting a _real C10_ like I ordered

    If I can read the print on the optoisolators correctly, they are type EL817.
    If so, these are very slow devices rated at 80Khz max. The sort of optoisolators as used on the CNC4PC on their C11 BOB, are HCPL2631's rated at 1Mhz.

    Pull up this drawing, http://www.kelinginc.net/KL4030WiringDiag.doc or look at my screen capture.

    On the input side where they show E-stop and limit switches, that is data common for those switches and will provide common for the 251 as well.

    The driver shown uses +5V Ground and gets it directly from the 5VDC power supply.

    I can't answer the question about the "isolators".

    I used the first pic posted and zoomed in and I can read the "isolators". They are in fact marked EL817.

    What exactly does that mean to me as an uneducated layman?

    G'day Jeff,

    Mine is going back, it is just too uncertain to take a chance. The C10 has a jumper that allows you to have the pins configured either way and that was why I had ordered it in the first place, I did not order THIS board.

    So I will put it in the mail tomorrow and wait for a C10 to be sent to me, like you I suffer a disability also but I try not to let on

    I had a very severe stroke about 6 years ago which has left me with only the left side of the body working. I don't have any RHS leg or arm use but that is the way it goes, could have been worse
