    Bridgeport EZpath Axis fault

    Hello,

I've got a problem with an ezpath 1, it starts up fine loads bmdc but when homing the machine it hangs for a second then says "[power on] Failed" then flashes "Axis drive fault" repeatedly and cannot be cleared.

The status lights on both drives are on so power is going to the drives, is there anyway to narrow down what the fault actually is or which drive has the fault? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

It is important that I am correct in assuming your EZPATH 1 is the type with no spindle drive (just a motor and gears), which would mean it has SEM motors and CMC axis drives.

These drives should have a green LED for power and a RED LED for fault/drives off. Upon boot up, these red LED should be on, when the drives are enabled, they will shut off. What is thier status?
I believe the X and Z motors are the same on this lathe. Thus you could interchange the drive boards and/or the motors to assist in fault finding.
Because the X motor is on the carraige, it is possible that you may have some bad cables.

Found the problem, the brushes in the Z Servo are worn out, and apparently shorted out on the armature which damaged the drive. the motor has been sent to be repaired and a local retired machine service tech is looking into repairing the drive.

    Thanks for the response!
