Can I get some thoughts and idea's for counterweights for an X3?

I'm thinking maybe I should make a counterweight to help lift the head of my X3 because it is easy to make it go down but takes effort to go up. Thought it would be good to do before cncing it. I was thinking attach a pulley or 2 to the ceiling with a cable or 2 to the head with counterweights at the other end but what shall I attach the cables to on an X3 head? At first I was thinking about 2 of the 4 allen bolts where the head bolts on but you can't do that on the left side because that box with the emergency shutoff switch is in the way. Do I mutilate the head and maybe ruin the warranty by drilling and tapping a bolt hole or 2? Seems like my only good option.

    Here's a link to how I made mine. http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72921

I drilled & tapped a hole. Dunno if that affects the warranty; never had any problems (knock on wood).
