    Check X-Axis Coupling Housing

Just a heads-up for 1100 owners (770 might suffer from this too, though).

I was working on the 1100 today and took the cover plate off for the x-axis coupling housing. The housing was filled with coolant, with rust everywhere.

I cleaned as best I could and drilled a small hole in the cover to ensure it drains next time. I suspect the ballscrew bearings will suffer from the coolant exposure.

    Regards,

    Geo

I had to replace the bearings on my x-axis motor, because of that problem. I sealed the motor and cover with silicone to prevent it getting in there to begin with.

Thanks for the heads up. I recently had a loss in my X position (I don't think it's related to this) so I plan to take a look at things closely either tonight or tomorrow. I will be looking into this when I take things apart.
