Interesting find Gerry. Someone has been busy.

That design looks good. I wonder if it will keep water and dust out though.

It might keep dust out, no way on the water tight seal, If anything it would hold water.

Very nice, I could use these. I am going to re-wire my machine in the next few months and may use these. I wonder if a provision for hand wheels and dampners could be made?

This is nice! I always hated the way my wiring looked at the motors. This is something I will definitely get on my next build.

That's a must have now! Thanks for the link. Installation looks like a breeze too.

I was quite surprised by the price, expected it to cost more considering the shape.

The only gripe I have about this design is that it stops you from using a rate damper on the back of the motor. Having said that it's nice for those with Gecko's and wasted space where the second shaft is.

Having said that, for an even neater look it may be worth opening the motors, de-soldering the standard cables and replacing it with your own shielded round cable. Although it depends on your ability to solder and to open a motor without breaking it.

I thought about the same thing with the dampener. I was wondering if someone were to drill a hole through the back and made an extension for the back shaft to attach a dampener, if that would work.

    Hi Guys,

Thank you for the compliments. Sorry for not visiting this forum more frequently. I am mainly on the Mach forum and the Yahoo group.

Making a version to take handwheels is in the works. Will be selling them with an extension shaft. Working on the sealing of the hole around the shaft.

Also a version with a gasket and a gland will be available for a full sealing. Using a sealed connector is a problem since these connectors cost more than the cover itself. I may be offering it as on option though for an additional cost...

Gerry, thank you for posting the links here for me

    Thanks,
    Daniel

Just a note, that most if not all Keling steppers over 282oz are not Standard Nema23 size, but are actually 60mm cases, and these covers will not fit them. Be sure to measure your motors.

CRAP! I already ordered and paid for three. They were slated for my glacier slow JGRO build. Oh well, got some proper Nema 23s coming for the X2 build. They will make that build look more professional I guess.

Note: the following Keling Stepper which is intended for use with the Gecko G540 at 18VDC to 50VDC is standard Nema 23 size.

These covers are a great fit. Use a little high temp silicone (from the auto parts store) to seal them up. Seal the cable at the connector cord grip with a little silicone. These are excellent products and I would recommend them to anyone wanting a sealed motor. You should also look at a front shaft seal, but if the front shaft is covered it may not be required. Depends on how much splashing is going on inside your enclosure.

Thanks David for a great product.

    Hi guys,

Thank you for your kind words about the covers.

Wanted to let you know that a new stock of these with a slightly improved design is available now on my website www.DYengineering.com

There is also an option with an O-ring and a cable gland available for a completely sealed assembly.

Also, covers for the 60mm motors are in the works now and should be available soon.

    Thanks,
    Dan

Excellent looking product and like others mentioned, I hate the look of sloppy wiring! I ordered 3. I am sure I will be back soon.
