    CNC Controller for LinuxMint

    Hello there!

    Long time no see!

I'm trying to upgrade my selfmade Plasma with a Wireless Handwheel. I just purchased the China-Version of the PlanetCNC one with all the funky button-colors by WiXhc. It feels really nice and smooth, but i can't get it to run in PlanetCNC nor can i map it with a keyboard-mapper.
I found quite a few solutions for LinuxCNC - but they don't work at all. I use LinuxMINT on my PC since its a little old and slow.

Its always a hard time getting PlanetCNC updated but this seems to be fixed. Anyway: I can't get it to run here.

Does anyone ever tried that? I found a topic from a few years ago and there was no solution; just the question like mine and nothing more after that.

And if i knew the Planet-Controller would be cheaper i would have bought that one but as i purchased the china-one it was like 200 bucks. And i couldn't afford that. The China-one was 100 with tax.
But i don't think, the PlanetCNC one would be working flawlessly like it should on windows.

Any expierences with that kind of stuff? I'm a little lost rn. I also tried to install a driver vom LinuxCNC, but it was a different kernel than LinuxMint. Its all great...

I tried it again for over 2 hours with different methodes. First one via HAL, but my MINT-Version doesn't seem to have HAL. So tried to install it, and even taht didn't worked. Then i tried it with a Video to compile a driver but the last steps won't work out as well (smth about a automake not found).
Does PCNC even have HAL or smth similiar? There must be a way! But i can't find it.
I'm pretty sure, i wouldn't get the PlanetCNC-Handwheel to work on linux as well. Windows must be Plug-and-Play but not under Linux.

I may not b able to offer any suggestions other than have you tried running WINE and investigating whether it would fill in the gaps?

I can confirm that. The original Woreless Handwheel works out of the Box with Linux (I'm running Ubuntu)
Just make shure to run the install script to set the permissions for the USB devices and drivers correctly.

The China Handwheel doesn't work. But there can't be a big difference between those two devices. They look identical, the shape, the buttons, the wheel...

TNG uses dedicated driver for our own handwheel device. From this built in driver perspective, your Chinese handwheel is a completely different device and communication is not established.
