Hi everyone, i want to build CNC router(machine) just for drilling my PCB-s. So i think it's good way to start here Firstly the main purpose will be drilling but later on i would change the "drill head" with laser or whatever. I've already decide length of x,y,z axis and the rest in rough. I'll ask you for advice and everything i don't understand, i hope you will help me. so lets start I'll first ask you about electronic, specific stepper controller and later on about construction. I thought to create my own controller with USB but there is questions about communication between controller and PC, software, i know that i need some ftdi chip to transfer usb but then i've problems with determining right IC which can operate normally. If there is someone who knows about that please help me.

Where are you located?

Use a Geckodrive G540 if you can get and afford one.
Use mach3 for software.
Everything else is research. Read, read, read........
