    CNC retrofit to Klopp mill

My Klopp vertical mill power feeds have died.....again. I would like to CNC this machine. The servos on this mill are DC brushed(I think) motors. Will I have to replace these motors to CNC this machine?
I have attached a picture of one of the motor plates that I could sort of get to, and a picture of the motor. I went through this when I first bought this mill four years ago. An electronics specialist repaired the board at a cost of 2500 Euros! At the time I thought about to CNC this mill but decided to just get the board fixed. Now I want to go ahead and CNC this mill. It is a very high quality mill with ball screws on three axis and DRO for all three axis.

If I didn't have to replace the servos that would be a good thing wouldn't it ?????

Re: CNC retrofit to Klopp mill

From my latest wanderings on the internet it seems the best and easiest way to convert this machine to CNC will be to replace the servos that are on the machine now. Do you think 850oz servos with a 2:1 or 3:1 reduction would be big enough for this milling machine? I work mostly in steel. This is not a production environment. The mill gets used to make parts I need for repairs on my farm.

This is the mill I want to convert to CNC.
