Hey guys.

I have a 80mm shell mill that I am trying to add to my arsenal. It is on the large size for the Mori and I dont think it would be a good idea to have tools next to it in the magazine.

I was reading through the manual and found that with the Mori Mv-40B Fanuc 10m you can specify tool size via the first number of the tool.

"For large diameter tools set the left digit to 9, for medium diameter tools set the left digit 1 to 8 and for small diamter tools set the left digit to 0."

Does anyone know what Mori/Fanuc considers large versus medium?

My tool number 12 is the shell mill so I marked it as 9012 in the tool recording area.

I then found an empty row of the 3 in my magazine and called tool 16 to be 9016. So i can do a tool change from 9016 to 9012 but it won't let me change from a 9XXX tool to a 00XX tool.

It gets a PMC 140 alarm "TOOL DATA NOT EQUAL"

I changed the spindle tool back to just 16 and if i am using small tools i can change back and forth but i can't switch between small and large.

Does this have to do something with empty pots?
