    Computer program

    Good afternoon,

Recently, I was given the opportunity to purchase a "used" 16yea old, 2 axis CNC lathe, that still has the original shipping grease on it. It was made by Hearlhy & Company, but they no longer make them. So far, I have not been able to find any information on this machine on the internet. Visually, it looks exactly like a Denford, but the electrical specs are all different. The biggest problem that I'm having is that this machine does not come with the computer program to run it. Is there generic software available, or is this thing just scrap metal now?

It will take a little playing around, but it looks like Mach3 will run it just fine

Or LinuxCNC, or TurboCNC. There are many possibilities. Does it have a parallel port type connection?

Do you have any documentation for the connection?

I'm beginning to thing that Hearlihy bought Sherlines, took off the tags, and put it in their enclosure. It does say Sherline on the chuck, but that is the only place.

It's a rebranded Sherline 4000 lathe, but it might have a different control system. Sherline uses LinuxCNC to run their CNC tools; that should work for this one too - you just have to figure out which pins go where.

Sherline's were used by many companies selling to the educational systems.
