    Default Comms Program

Anyone know of a way to add custom communications programs to MC that can be set as default via Screen/Configure?

Sup Corey. We'll liven it up

I copied my app to the name/folder cimcodnc is in. Now if I can figure out what MCam uses to pass teh command to CimcoDNC, I can use that command in my proggie. Right now it opens it, but isn't sending the file data so it just closes again.

I use Cimco for our DNC and downloading. What exactly are you trying to do. Are you trying to set up one machine as the default? If so, I think it was in the DNC setup screen. I'll check when I get in today.

Fish, I'm trying to use a different program. One that I made. I want to drop it in place of the cimco one. I just don't know what instruction is sent from MC to Cimco to tell it what file to send, -s or /t or /send or -xmit or -xfer or somethgin.

    rekd,

I dont have your answer, but Ive been reading these posts here and "elsewhere". I applaud you for forging ahead on what I gave up on.

Did you write the rs232 interface from scratch or did you find an active X component or something that already existed ?

I wanted to take my access database to the next level and use it for downloading programs to the machines. I was looking for something turnkey.

    Care to divulge ?

CAM, I made it from scratch. Right now it only sends, as I haven't had the need or time to finish the recieve portion yet. As for making one in Access, I'm not sure if you can use the MSComm control there, but I'll look into it. Even if not, you can call external programs and pass varialbes to them, which would allow it to work via a 3rd party program, like mine.

CAM, I just tossed a Microsoft Communications control on my form for the setup sheets in Access, and sent a file to the port with it. (I didn't actually connect to a machine, but the port openend and data was sent.)

If you want to discuss this further, email me or we can talk on LL later.

'Rekd teh It said "Insert disk 3..." but only 2 fit.

    REKD,

You just need to goto screen, configure,start/exit then open theeditor options and pick other. It will open up the window you need toget your program to replace CIMCO. I hope this is what you needed.

    No, not the editor.

    The Communications.

    Choices: Mastercam or CimcoDNC.

I want to use my own.
