Lightbulb Diagnose Stepper Motor Issue - with video link included

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEg_hd86lA8

What do you think about my stepper motors? Motor tuning issue? Bad wiring to motors? Burned out motors? I am currently considering purchasing new motors for all axes.

The Z axis works just fine X and Y shake like in my video and the linked video. I believe ports and pins and all communications are good.
I am jogging the x and y axis, and it has issues as seen here. Very similar to this motion better captured in this video: https://youtu.be/fVnEB7JLRK8

Previously burned out the keling axis drives by connecting the wrong wires upon a re-assembly after moving the machine. Does this consequently burn a motor out too?
Why would the Z axis work while the other drives don't, perhaps the larger motor was able to take the extra current?

    Setup:
    Mach4 running Gecko G540(new)
    x and y are 270oz/in Keling
    z is 465 oz/in Keling

thankyou for any hep diagnosing, perhaps this video will help others in the future.

Steppers sometimes work better with a load attached than free in the air. But there might be too much current - did you hook up the current-limiting resistors, assuming that those motors want less than 3.5 amps?

Stepper motors rarely burn out; usually problems are upstream. How are your motors wired - in series, or bipolar parallel? Since you got a G-540, you can get tech support from Geckodrives; they should be able to sort out your problems. Have you read their "step motor basics guide" yet? http://www.geckodrive.com/support/st...or-basics.html

I had them all hooked up originally with violent table motion results.

yes, but I lost my notes on the particular value resistor used. I can break open the cable. I did check for continuity on the DB9 cables, and all is well.

I have not tested with a multimeter the cable connector to the motors.
don't know the wiring, I'm going to assume serial, each motor has one cable.
Good to know that my motors may still work out. I'll check Gecko Forum and see what they think. thanks!
