    Die-sinking EDM can’t set axis

    Hello,
    I have a die-sinking EDM (sodick, model EPOC-2)
The machine was purchased a long time ago, with no technical documentation supported.
    This problem:
When I start using the machine, I want it to recognize the axes by setting the G-code to G81X-Y-Z. However, when I press Enter, the machine displays an error message: "A system error has occurred (8). Press the ACK key."

After pressing ACK and rewriting the original code, the machine begins setting the axes. However, when it reaches the Z-axis, it stops before completing the setup, and I am unable to press any buttons.

P.S. I tried modifying the code to G81ZX-Y-, but the machine freezes when setting the Y-axis. It seems that whenever an axis reaches the end, the machine freezes on that axis, preventing me from pressing any buttons.
P.s. Anyone know about this machine can use other electrode except copper, graphite?

    Thank you for your help.

The machine may have soft or hard limits that are causing it to freeze when reaching the end of an axis.
Try manually jogging each axis to see if any of them hit a limit switch or a physical stop.
If the Z-axis stops short, check if the travel range is being exceeded.
