Has anybody here made a spindle that accepts tool holders himself? e.g. ISO 30 or 40 taper etc?

Bump
I would if I had a lathe (and knew how to use one)...
BTW
What does "Bump" mean?
Carlo
I have access to a lathe and know how to use it. However I would like to know from someone who build one how tight tolerances are needed, what runout to expect etc.Originally Posted by cbass
It's meant to "bump up" the post to the top so someone will notice it (push it up).Originally Posted by cbass

Start here and follow the link to the details. Hope that helps.

Sure it helps, thanks. My setup is going to be different but it helps to see that it can be homemade with good accuracy.
I plan to use a 3ph motor with DIY VFD controlled from the PC and a belt drive. The taper will be for tool holders, not collects, since I want to make a tool changer with pneumatic drawbar, kind like the picture you posted here
What's the thread for the collet nut?
1.5mm
?x1,5mm
Major diameter?
32 x 1.5mm
What motor brand/model and RPM will you be using?
Cheers,
JR
I'm still searching for the right ones. I don't need more than 7K rpm on the spindle. Thanks for the thread info
