As the titel suggests I am in Ireland and just wondering if I can import a tormach mill or would the shipping etc just make the cost not worth the price.

Perhaps I should consider a European brand.
Hi fidia,
I live in Norway and imported a Tormach 1100 with delxue stand.
Shipping was 2k$ and tax was 3k$ (the tax you can get back, atleast in Norway)
There are at least 4 or 5 people in this forum who have bought Tormachs & imported to Europe.
Not difficult to do, pick a shipper/freight forwarder and they will do it all for you, cost around £700 IIRC. Of course on top of that there is import duty & VAT, you can claim the VAT back as a business, though importing as an individual can make this a bit costly.
Hi - New Zealand is a similar distance and several have been sent this way. I have bought two 1100's now and this time I investigated the option Tormach offer of delivery straight from the China factory - but it worked out slightly more expensive than ex the Las Vegas warehouse.

Thanks for the replies. I went trudging through fora at the weekend and located a Zero Center coming up for sale soon very close to me. Just pure luck. It is around €10000 but I will be selling a machine against it.
That looks interesting - any more information on it?
I paid USD 942.00 for shipping to Norway in 2006, plus vat of course. This is fairly comparable with Peters' experience.
I'm curious as to why Tormach haven't yet set up some kind of direct sales capability in Europe. The potential European market must be pretty much the second largest after the USA. I believe lots of people in Europe are put off by the perceived complications of importing from the States, although in reality it's a piece of cake, although somewhere in the total cost a person is paying for double shipping and handling.
