    Doosan DNM400 vs Haas VF2

    Hello all,
just ordered a new Doosan DNM 400. Firstly I was thinking of getting the Haas VF2 due to it's low advertised price, but got pretty upset when I found out that the prices on their european site are wrong. I had to add a lot of money, even if I decided to go with a standard machine. And I don't mean the extra cost's listed in their price list such as transport, installation etc. There were hidden cost's...

Anyway, hopefully the Doosan will do me well, it seems to be a much better machine than the Haas, and the Doosan cost less with more options intalled.

    Any opinions of the DNM?

I have only run the larger machines (VF9 vs HM1000) and I find the Doosan to be a lot more robust. Can't say much more as comparing Vertical/Horizontal machines is like comparing apples and pears.

the DNM is a nice and fast machine.

also the standard bigplus spindle is a nice feature.

did you get it with fanuc or heidenhain?

Thanks for your responses. I got it with the Fanuc option, that was the only option I got!

    dmv

I have a dmv 4020d .this has been one of the worst machines i have ever run.
We got the machine new and replaced the spindle in less then a year and a half.only 2000 hrs no crashes. My machine is down right now with a bad spindle encoder. All the way oil fittings leak.Every part on this machine is very cheap and wont last long.Ps the spindle rebulid was 8,000 dollars.Get your money back if you can.Do a serach on doosan spindles in this fourm. You wont be very happy.

I have read the horror stories about the spindles, and I asked the salesperson about this, and he (of course) had never heard of this. My hope is that Doosan have learned from these spindles failures and implemented new design. The DNM is a new machine and it would be rather silly to put a spindledesign with known faults into a new machine. But you never know!
I'll wait and see, and hopefully they will run well.

    hi there,

i have a Doosan DNM 400 with Fanuc controler now since some Weeks

my opinion over this time is: the maschine is not so bad, with some things that are not so nice. 1.if you change the tools the noise ist high.

    2. there is a big hidden coast as there is a air blowing truogh the spindel the whole day long.

the Fanuc controller ist not the best.

    Hello phx,
when they delivered the machine, how was it packed? Did it stand on a pallet, and do you remember how tall the pallet was? Was the Z-axis milling head in it's tallest position or was it near the table?

The reason for asking is that my door is not very tall!

    Best regards
    John

If you have a spindle with only 300 hours on it, shouldn't it be under warranty? I don't have a Doosan (Have a Haas) but all installed parts on our machine carry a 6 month warranty. I can't imagine Doosan doesn't do something similar. That would be absurd to have a brand new replacement part fail shortly after installation, just to be charged for another new one.

    Angry spindle

This spindle was rebult by a 3rd party.they say its doosans falt because the knock out cyclender was leaking oil into the spindle .and sure enough that was the case.so we got stuck with the bill again.

Yes We want to get the dnm400 with 12,000 spindle, big plus taper, chilled head and through the coolant spindle with the moldmaker package advanced fanuc controller and I was wondering if will run into problems--I saw one yesterday and the toolchanger is indeed loud but we wouldnt mind. The spindle problem makes me nervous.--what is that?--that it burns up or goes bad? How is the axis drift in the z and y with the chilled head and bigplus spindle? I am assuming it is verygood and the movie on bigkaiser.com is very impressive.. feel free to email--i have much trouble refinding posts and dont know if anyone replied Jeff Cuneo [email protected] Motorola

Just curious if anyone else received a DNM400 or DNM500 and if they're making chips yet. Any more feedback on these?
