    Dunham PLC Precision Lathe

Ok folks...I'm looking for any & all info anyone might have regarding the Dunham PLC Precision Lathe. Dunham does not make them anymore and I would like to do some research on them before I attempt to purchase a used one. Google isn't very helpful I'm afraid.

    Does this lathe resemble?: http://www.mcleanlathe.com/lathes.htm

Most famous of this category is probably the Hardinge HSL-59

Nice benchtop lathe. Stick with the hardinge if your work permits it.

    Hope this helps.

Actually, I have no idea what it looks like. The only pic I have is this: (see attachment)

As far as "sticking" with the Hardinge...I don't have one and I'm not looking for a manual lathe. I am looking for a small platform CNC lathe. I have no need for a large turret lathe, nor do I want a toy like the Sherline. I am looking for something with a work envelop of approximately 10" x 24".

I know exactly what I'm looking for. That's precisely why I started this thread and named it what it is. I don't need any suggestions to look for different machines.

I was thinking more along the lines of a Omniturn or Accuslide CNC lathe with the Hardinge lathe headstock/spindle that is a proven design producing untold gadzillions of parts. These lathes are easier to maintain and hold tolerances all day long cranking out the parts. The Dunham spindle in the lathe you asked about competed in this same market. The Duhham spindle was not as accurate or durable compared with the Hardinge design. I was just trying to help with your research into small CNC lathes.

What about the 4 bearing/5 bearing designs? They have a 2 bearing model which is relatively affordable, w/the 4 & 5 bearing models being 2 & 3 times as expensive.
