    EMC2 name change to Linuxcnc

Just for info EMC2 will now be referred to as Linuxcnc.
This is due to a trademark dispute from another company.
Rather then fight, the name will be changed.

I'm sure at some point the name here on CNCzone should be changed too.

LOL. Yeah, there was great risk of confusion between a CNC machine control and SAN storage. Did making searching Tediuos.
CNC: Making incorrect parts and breaking stuff, faster and with greater precision.

Understandable but not the best execution.

They should have left a reference to the old name up on the website. Should not have been a problem, our EMC is old...

    Thank you.
Maybe you could add a sticky note about the name change?
Or what ever you deem appropriate.

There's already an announcement in the top of the forum, above the sticky's.

    Too bad, but good

I think the new name is a good thing. The old issues of EMC vs EMC2 and neither sound like CNC control or Linux.
