Hello all...

I have been looking into getting into a cheap laser to do some engraving on aluminum.

I read that a 40 watt CO2 laser will have no problem blowing off anodize from aluminum, but will a 40 watt be able to penetrate aluminum??

I am a machinist and make some parts that I do engraving on and it eats quite a bit of spindle time on the machine, I wonder if getting a cheap laser would be better.

I am only looking at .005" or .010" deep, but not sure where to start. I am sure if I wanted to buy a $50k commercial laser it would work, but looking for a cheap alternative.

Hi Mike,
for Co2 laser tube ,it can engrave on aluminum,but just a mark,somthing like a scratch,and for DM series laser makring machine maybe can meet your demands ,but working area is 100*100mm,usally,anyway,if interested,please feel free to write me mail [email protected],we can show you some working videos.

I am not sure which machine this guy is using, but it took a number of passes to get depth.
