Hello Gentlemen,
I am having some trouble diagnosing an electrical gremlin in a VMC15xt
The Error is a C-axis fault MOTOR OVERLOAD #11/13/8 that occurs only during the Rigid Tap cycle.
Sometimes the error also includes an x-axis error
When the machines speed (F/S word in format 1) is set to above 500rpm, the spindle stutters almost like its loosing rotation count, then alarms out. sometimes it's when it's backing out, sometimes it's when its plunging.
I also noticed that every once in a while, the displayed spindle speed is wayyyyy off from what was set in MDI
During diag, I tested the spindle card in DI and swapped a known good card. Same issue.
Cleaned all contacts for the board, the encoder, and the orientation sensor. same issue
Verified the code didn't have issues. All clear.
Checked the spindle orientation sensor is DI/DS. Sometimes it doesn't catch
The Spindle motor is 6 months old, so the encoder is new. It looked clean when i popped the fan shroud.
When I run the spindle from the Yaskawa G7 drive, it seems to run and read fine
Power supply is new, so I wouldn't imagine its that, unless somnething zapped it again.
Motherboard is also new. from when the PSU went kaput.
All parameters are set properly.
Is there anything else I'm missing? Any ideas on the issue? Should I just start throwing parts at it?
