Fanuc 15 Series TT Transfering Code

I am having problems transferring my code from the computer to the Controller (Fanuc 15 TT) via RS232. It has been years since I have used this controller, and then, very little.

I need some simple step by step instructions for sending and receiving a program to this controller. I know I am missing something really easy...That's what is making it frustrating.

    Thanks you very much,
    Andrew

Are you able to send from the CNC to the PC?

No. I have tried. I know it could be my settings in my DNC software. If only I could send it to the PC, that would help.

The guy that passed this client off to me is going to meet me there tommorrow morning and show me. He told me he has to wade through it a little each time he has to load a program on it. LOL! But we'll get it.

    Thanks for the help.

Could you post some brief specifics for the rest of us once you get it working?
Would be valuable info for some of us.
    Thanks

On the Fanuc, put the control into MDI mode, press the SETTING soft-key (I think twice), then page up until setting 5110-5132 are on the screen. set these values:

    5110: 3
    5111: 1
    5112: 11

    5120: 3
    5121: 1
    5122: 11

    5130: 3
    5131: 1
    5132: 11

Then, set your DNC software to use:

    9600 baud
    7 data bits
    EVEN parity
    1 stop-bit
    Xon/Xoff handshaking
    End-of-block code: LF (Line-feed)

If your software has the ability to send a "Leader" ahead of the file, or a "Trailer" at the end of the file, you can set the Leader to "LF" (Line-feed) and the trailer to "%" (Percent sign), then your files won't need anything special at the beginning and end. The file can start out with your O-number and end with an M02 or M30.

If the DNC software does not send a Leader or Trailer, or if the leader/trailer is blank, be sure that your file has a percent sign at the begining and end.

To transfer the file, get the DNC software ready to send (so that it's waiting for an Xon signal from the Fanuc). Then, put the Fanuc into EDIT mode, turn off the memory protect key switch, press the PROGRAM key, press the right-most soft key to expose the PUNCH and READ keys, then press READ, then ALL. That should transfer the file into the Fanuc, keeping the O-number that's in the file itself. If you want to use a different O-number from the one in the file, press the letter "O", then the desired number, then READ, then EXEC.

If you get a "Buffer overflow" alarm on the Fanuc, you may have to improve your PCs performance (or the DNC software's performance) for handshaking with the Xoff code. Let us know if that happens and tell us what DNC software and Windows version you are using.

To punch a program back to the PC, get the DNC software ready to receive first, then select EDIT mode, press the PROGRAM key, key in the O-number that you want to send, then press PUNCH then EXEC. If the program you want to punch is the one you've most recently opened, just press PUNCH then THIS.

This is just about what I had to do to get it to work.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to type this up, and to the others for their interest!
