    Fanuc 31i RS232 Help

I have a Robodrill Alpha T14e with a 31i control that I cannot get RS232 set up correctly.

As far as I can tell, I have this control set up exactly as my Robdrill Mate running an Oi control that works just fine. I am using the same RS232 cable to eliminate potential errors.

    Using channel 0 for RS232 In/Out
Baud Rate set at 11 for 9600
    Stop Bits at 2
    Parity is Even

The communications software is set up to reflect the above information and like I said, my other Robo works just fine.
Is there another parameter or setting that I am missing? Perhaps something different or extra from the Oi and 31i control?

I should also mention that this machine was recently purchased used and it lost the SRAM right of the bat because of a weak backup battery. The SRAM was reloaded by the local dealer but the communications did not get tested before the tech left.

Any suggestions? Any other details I need to provide?

I am not sure what ports you have on the 31i but is the I/O channel set for the correct post?

Are you getting an alarm? Bad data? Nothing?

As Al said, check that the port is correct for I/O channel = 0. I had this happen recently on a 31i. I was getting a 086 alarm, even though a good cable was plugged in to the DB25.

Well, I come in today and try to load a program for giggles and it works. I am not quite sure what or if I have done anything different that before other than I had an operator loading a program like he did with the older Oi control. I was probably doing it similarly to the Oi also, but I am thinking that I may be on a different screen today than I was before when sending my request to load.

Soooo, aparently my problem is operator error.(chair)

Fanuc controllers are not my strongsuit, see screenname, but I am slowly getting them figured out.

    Thanks for the replies.
