    Question Forum for Punching machines

Would I be the only one that would have an interest in having a forum for Punching machines? Machines like Trumpf, Strippit, Finn-power, Wiedemann, Salvagnini ect. Someplace to share sheet metal punching experience.

OK can you explain what is Strippit and what you do

A Strippet is a CNC punching machine for sheet metal or thin material typically less than 10 gage. The machine has a series of tools that are loaded into a 25-40 ton head based on the CNC program to cut out parts or punch areas on any given sheet. Two or more clamps hold the material and move the sheet under the punch head to the location given by the CNC program.

I`ve got an LVD Delta 1000 and a manual Strippit 30-30 Super Fabricator.Going by the response to the original post it looks like there are not a lot of punch operators lurking here so it would be a very slow forum.
There is a couple of punching/sheetmetal forums I have came across on the net but there was never much going on in them, mainly people looking for cheap/free cadcam programmes and people like the original poster using the forum as a means of advertising their services.

    Cluster punch

You could try staggering the punch hit to reduce the bow (never has worked for me). If you can purchase a cluster punch for the pattern this will help. You could purchase a flattening machine that is a series of rollers that you can pass the part thru although they are rather expensive.

I've had good success running the perfed part through my 24" rollers. The trick is to get the memory (stress) out of the material so forming the part to a small arc may be required. Then just flip the part and run it back through the rollers and adjust the rolls as required to get back to a flat.

    Exclamation Metal deforming

Punch 1/2 the holes (stagger)then flip the metal. Will require a little more programming but should help. The best is to use sharp punches with proper die clearance. S/S requires a lot more clearance. On parts with forming ie. louvers you can back bend the metal before punching.

    Hi all,
I also have a Finn Power F5S, and a Trumpf 2020 with automatic loader unloder punching machines,
and a Bystronic Bysprint 2200 Laser machine.
My job is to create programs, as well as tool changing and adjustments for these machines.

When I punch perforated panels up to 2000x1000 mm,1 mm thickness,
I use a gang tool (9, 6mm punches in the same tool),
so I punch 9, 6mm holes with one stroke, without problem.

    Gentlemen,

I am facing a problem with my Finn Power F5S punching machine.
The upper and lower turrets are gone out of alignment.
The upper turret is locked into position, but the lower turret is not.
Does anybody knows how to put the lower turret to the correct position?
    Thanks

    Question CAM software

Akylas, sounds like you have a cool mix of machines. What software or software’s are you using to make programs?

    This is true, Independent.
The owner of the factory likes the variaty for some reason. (I pay, I buy He says).
and the funny thing is, that he has no idea about machines, he only knows about money.
A couple of years ago, we had a Muratec too, but he sold it to buy the Bystronic.

The software I use for programming the machines is, the Metalix 8.5
I have been using this program for 15 years, with updades of course.
It is a very good software.

Titan turret punch with Fagor 8020 cnc

    Hi Everybody!

Its quite sad but I cant see how to start a new thread on here so apologies for jumping in on this one - my query did seem to fit in though.

Ive recently acquired a Pierce All Titan turret punch with a computer running fast cad and a Fagor 8020 controller. Weve drawn a few items allocated tooling etc and got the machine to punch the sheets successfully but have now hit a problem. The controller is showing error 62 - head cycle error. Does anyone have any ideas or know of a souce of a manual for the Fagor 8020 controller.

    Thanks in advance.
PS wheres the button for 'start new thread'
