    G43 dumb question

This is a generic G code question not specific to Acromatic control.

As I understand it a G43 command engages tool length compensation. However on every machine I've ever used, doing a tool change (M6TX) engages the tool length compensation value found in the tool database. There doesn't appear to be any reason to use G43 HX

Am I missing something? What is the point in G43? When do you make use of it?

    G43 is needed

    Hi,

If you have only used Acramatic you won't have used G43.

It is required on most other controls and can be useful if you want to apply different tool lengths for the same tool. T_ M6 will not load up offsets automatically unless you make it part of your tool call macro.

In the past I have run a number of different controls that assumed the length and radius offsets of a tool once it was in the spindle.

It's pretty easy to acclimate to adding a

    G43 H(#)
    after every
    M6 T(#)

    You get used to it.
