    Haas black screen keypad error

Hoping someone can help with an ongoing issue with my 2007 Haas TM3. Running 9n single phase 120V.

A couple months ago, the display screen went black during a cycle, and the keypad froze. The only way to stop the machine was by pushing the power off button.

Initially, I thought it was the backlight on the LCD as I've ran into and fixed that issue in the past. I replaced the screen but the problem remains. When I power the machine back up, sometimes it will start up ok, and other times the monitor won't beep or load graphics. Looking back at alarm history, I noticed alarm 159 keypad failure, but it does not generate that alarm every time.

After speaking with a Haas tech, he suggested it could be a ground wire issue. I noticed the ground wire in the control panel was not bolted and the metal contact surface was painted over. I corrected that and thought it was fixed. It ran great for a couple days but then went black again. I checked the LVPS and the ground wires in the machine and they all checked out fine. Then moved outside the machine and found loose ground wires in the disconnect panel. Fixed those and was up and running again. Thought that was definitely the problem. But yet again... black screen a few days later.

My next option will be to replace the keypad. It isn't in bad shape and there is no visible cracks or wear. But I'm at a loss as to what else to do.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

The problem may be much simplier. The wires between control panel and cabinet. There may be broken line even if they look fine. Replacing them is not amusing but woth trying.
