Hass VF-5 post arc/line interpolation problem

The featurecam post we have for our VF-5 has a problem, when we try to smooth out the 3d machining and cut down on the size of the program by using the Acr/Line interpolation check box we get error codes trying to run the program. The code says somthing about a bad number. anyone else have this problem? Could it be somthing to do with arc quadrant call outs ( half circle, quarter circle,) any response would be greatly appreciated

We have been working with a variety of Haas mills using point to point as well as curve fitting style of programming. The Haas controls do very well with both styles of programming. I have not seen any issues with the Haas using Master Cam’s curve fitting algorithm. You may run into a problem if the curve fitting creates arc segments that are too small.

You can verify this by loading your program into the Vega DATA-View utility. This utility checks arc/circle statements for small angle errors and large radius errors. A fully functional demo is available at www.vegacnc.com

If you are trying to smooth out the motion of your programs, try the DATA-Optimize feature of DATA-View. This feature will embed acceleration/deceleration points into your program and allow the Haas control to run faster and smoother. Some of our customers have more than doubled their typical feedrates and the part finish is better. They are also reporting a significant reduction in tool wear due to smoother material engagement.

    Enjoy!
