Have to reset after every program

I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue.

After almost every program I run in path pilot, I have to click reset, or I get anomalous reading on each tool in both x and z. My master tool will be off by as much as 1" in either direction for seemingly no reason.

I had this issue in v1.9.4b, so I switched back to 1.9.2, and it's still persisting.

It's not really an issue right now, because I'm running 10 parts tops a day, just an annoyance. I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this problem, and may have a solution.

I assume you are referencing at the start of the day and that the home switches are not disabled. Are you using a turret ? Does the reset occur on the Z retract away from the headstock ?

Yeah, I reference home after I turn the machine on, and leave the home switches enabled.

Yes, I'm using a turret. I'm really not sure when the reset occurs. Maybe it's accidentally hitting the z home every once in awhile when it goes to g30?

I bring it out about .5'', set g30, and zero my master tool.

Try setting your G30 about 2 inches from the stop. Run a simple program that just does a face and then a tool change and some other operation to see if the turret is generating the rest. I had to adjust my Turret sensor because sometimes when I selected tool 2 it would generate a reset.

That makes sense. After thinking about it, it usually occurs after I run a boring operation. It seems to run the program smoothly, so I'm guessing the last operation with the boring bar could be resetting it when it goes to g30.

I'm going to try the 2" thing, and if that doesn't work, I'll check out the sensor with the boring bar.

Thanks man, that was a lot of help.

Calibrated the sensor, set g30 closer to the part, and there were still issues. I'm not sure why I didn't think to disable the home switches after initially referencing them.

I disabled them, and absolutely no issues after running 15 parts today. Not the best solution, but it's running within tolerances now, and I'm not having to check every part while it's chucked up.

I would call Tormach, it should not work like this.

Maybe you are getting electrical interference that is making the controller to think a home switch is being triggered?

Yeah possibly. Just got the machine in December, so new switches shouldn't be in order. Hope to have some time to sort it out and give them a call in the next couple weeks.
