Phil,
I just noticed your post looking for old posts about fly cutters. This is off topic but thought I would like to share some photos I took at Griffith Observatory on Friday of the last space shuttle flight. This has particular interest for me as I worked as an engineer at Rockwell for eight years. It is really sad to realize an end of an era here in Southern California, that the shuttle is retiring to a museum rather than working in orbit. The pictures were taken with a Canon T3i and 250mm image stabilized lens using servo autofocus.

I was using a Canon EF-S 55-250mm With the T3i APS-C sensor its equal to 88-400mm Not bad for <$200 if one has enough light like the nice sunny day I took those pictures.
