I have a 1997 O-MD control that will not receive a program; it will output but will not input.

I checked the RS-232 cable and it appears to be good.

Using the same PC w/Predator Editor that I've used for years with this machine to output, input & drip feed programs.

Checked DNC settings on PC & nothing has been changed.

It will send a program to the PC but will not receive the same program or any other.

The PC does receive the signal to send from the control, however the control just continues to flash LSK

Any ideas or direction would be greatly appreciated as I am at a loss …

Sounds like a bad serial port on the CNC. See if you can upload/download to another machine to rule out the PC serial port. You can change parameters to use the second serial port. It is a Fanuc Paid option but it might be already enabled. I am not allowed to share what the option bit is on this fourm.

Set the following parameters in the Series 0 for the 2nd CNC port.

On the SETTINGS screen, set the following:

TVON = 0

ISO = 1

I/O = 2 (if using port 2)

PWE = 1

TAPEF = 0


CNC Parameter Port Port 2
(M74) Connector for the serial cable (Punch Panel)
0050 -- 1xxxxxx1
0038 xx01xxxx
0250 -- 10 (Set same as parameter 0552)
