1.) We have state of the art equipment and the ability to hold and measure extremely tight tolerances, +/-0.003µ on a daily basis.
2.) I prefer someone with experience in the manufacturing of "special" cutting tools, step drills, porting tools, performance end mills, performance drills, reamers etc. Who also has a working knowledge of the the tools geometry. I can not use someone who only has experience manufacturing hss drill bits, or loading a machine who makes the same end mill 300 days of the year. The person needs to efficiently perform setups several times a day.
3.) Someone who doesn't come from the Kennametals of the world, integrating employees from larger companies has been a real headache for us. We like to consider ourselves an emergency room for our customers and the people we have hired from larger companies just have not adapted very well to our scheme or environment. Being our size we do not have the support staff that the big guys have, (i.e. setup techs, mfg. engineers, maintenance) the operators to a degree are responsible for everything. This has also been an issue for Kennametal like trainees.
4.) Programming experience, so much of the software on cutter grinders are similar these days you could go from an Anca to a Walter and train in no time. Obviously the transition would be much easier with Anca experience, but I would never close the door if there was no experience using and Anca but there was using a Walter, Rollomatic, machines using numoroto software, etc.
5.) They need to be able to read blueprints and perform inspections
6.) Wages depending on experience $17.50 - $25.00 and hr. Can be flex if
good.
7.) No Mill or turn experience needed
8.) AutoCad is our primary software we use.
