Hitachi Seiki 4NE11 with blank 9" CRT

Hi I have an Hitachi Seiki 4NE11 cnc lathe with Fanuc 6TB.
It's a new project and i'm trying to get it up and running after a year in storage.

All seems well but the 9" green crt is not lighting up after I switch on.

The X Z axis are working fine and will jog around no problem and the hydraulics hums away like it's never been switched off but without the screen I can't home or check any diagnostics.

It has a Micon 8 controller on the back cabinet which seems to be working fine. All the alarm codes are ok apart from 28A which has a 1 in each address space refering to 100v, 24v and 12v power supply issues (the manual is in in Jinglish so not very clear!)...might be because it isn't homed yet?

All the power supplies seem fine in the drive cabinet...no error led's etc.

    Thanks for any help guys.
    John

I believe there is a power supply board mounted to the left of the CRT, is that one working?

Hi will check that today. The manual says check for 12v between the fuse and 0v but not sure which pin on the edge connector is 0v. The crt has an orange light(tube heater?) on the back so presume power is getting to it.

    Thanks John

Just to update. Swapped the old crt for a new unit found on Ebay. Screen works fine now.

    just a note-
a LOT of 9" monitor failures can be fixed with just a soldering iron... the board on the side of the control has a kinda circular pin pattern where the flyback mounts- seen MANY with little round cracks around those pins...just the weight of the transformer/vibration will cause cracking in the solder. probably at least 2/3 of our 9" monitor problems could be repaired by simply remelting those pins to reconnect them.
bad solder joints often pop up with bright or dark screen, sometimes thumping the panel will make it flicker too...resolder those pins, it usually works fine.
