That's the bearing block, I didn't have the stock at the time to make one as drawn so I used some round stock, mentioned it in a video.

Hoss I stumbled upon some printed parts you made on your youtube channel (will those be available aswell?) I was thinking about doing this for the z axis plate and possible the bearing block on the y to get me up and running to machine the parts out of aluminum what do you think? how did those parts work out? also please see my thread for photos of your stepper cover. it came out great thanks again.

Just noticed Toolsupply is now carrying .1270 and .1280 balls so I ordered a couple packs for testing repacking the roton nuts.
I'll see if there is an improvement over the .1265 balls which used to be their largest.
    More later.

Do these oversize balls work with the Chinese ball screws too? I didn't order the ball screws yet still looking... I am deciding on Roton or Chinese, do you have a connection on getting Roton for a good price, would need the screws and the ball nuts for X,Y and Z.

I know some folks have put oversize balls in the chinese nut but what size I don't know.
No connection with roton, I paid full price same as anyone.
I'll order a screw and nut from linearmotion today to test these new balls too.

Did you order the screws directly from Roton or you went to a distributor to order them? If a distributor please let me know who, i am ready to put in a order as well.

Hoss, that 3D printed little vibration dampener gizmo you designed for the G0704 spindle works great. I got my motor hooked up today and tried it without. Definitely some rattle and thou can feel the slop in the spindle/quill coupling when you twist them by hand. The first one I printed fit perfect with a bit of persuasion. Now there is no rattle whatsoever. Very happy, thank you!

(note: this was taken a few weeks ago, I've since reinstalled the upper quill bearing. With this device, there is no rattle.)

    cheers,

Thanks Michael, glad to get some confirmation on the little gizmo.

hoss, when i took my column off to drill the holes for my tramming aids i was going to do the also do the 4 adjustment screws on the back however my father in law said he didn't know about that ( thinking it might dig in to the saddle) i only watch your original tramming videos never version 2. I'm going to try that version today maybe. I caught in version 2 you said you had brass in front of the screws as to not damage anything. do you by chance have any pictures of these.
Where they just turned cylinders or did you have an angle on them that met the back of the saddle. how much smaller then the tapped hole were these? Could i just use full brass screws?
also i was going to use a Bridgeport to put these holes in. however yours look as though they match the angle of the column, did you just use a hand drill on the column with some sort of fixture to achieve a matched angle you wanted?

any and all input you could provide would be greatly appreciated. I'm really struggling to get my machine dialed in properly.

I have cleaned my surfaces and all tooling tdi, di and coaxial indicator so hopefully the second round will go better.

The brass was the ones from the saddle lock holes since I don't need the locks under cnc,
they are just small pins about 3/16 dia. x 1/4 long iirc.
Full brass screws should be ok, they shouldn't dig in much.
Just used a hand drill, angled so they make contact with the base as straight as possible but
    enough to have tool access.

The oversize balls showed but not the C7 screw and nut from linear motion yet of course.
I'll have to see if I have a spare roton ballnut and length of screw to test that though just because I can squeeze some 0.1270's in mine doesn't mean you will.
The lead error is pretty bad but that's accumulated over a foot, the actual error for the length of the nut is still pretty small but still, that's why you load them and make sure it doesn't bind over the full length.
0.1265's that I run now still spun very easily the full length of the screws.
