    I made a video

    Hi all,
I decided to try and answer the Challenge that was put out there by another CAM supplier. Maybe you have seen the thread over at the CNCzone- Tormach forum?
Anyway, I thought maybe some folks here might be interested in viewing the video. I don't talk much so if there are sections that need some explanation just let me know.
It is my first screen cap video with audio and I didn't realize I was breathing so loudly LOL
If you can view in 1080p I think you will be able to see the text on the screen better.
Again, I'm pretty new to machining so some things I did in the video may not be the way a more experienced machinist would go.
    Thanks for watching
    Gerry

    Thanks Mike and tikka308!
I went back in to the project and opened G-Wiizard to apply the speeds and feeds as needed.
I thought also that maybe I should upload the SC project w/ the changes.
    Thanks again fellas,

Second that. I would have to screw up many more times to get through that.

Soooo many questions. I'd better start small.

On your first roughing waterline operation, in the trimming tab, what is the effect of the "trim rolls" checkbox? I'm sure I'll have more, but I'll troll the forum for a while first.

Thanks so much for the video. At first I thought my audio was broken, but apparently you didn't say anything for the first minute or so!

I learned a few things tonight.

Gerry, which capture program did you use to make your video? Just curious.

If you look at that in the perimeters tab under Trimming there is animation that shows you what it does as you check or un-check the box. If you leave it un-checked it will allow the tool to curve around a vertical edge and clean up that edge, like taking off a burr that might develop there. I find that if you leave it at default it will put a tool mark on a surface that I don't want the tool to touch. So I usually check the box to turn that off. This is a good example of how sometimes you need to look at SC with a little bit of different logic... at first glance you would think that checking that box would turn the function on, not off. Anyways that is how I look at it
I may or may not needed to do it in the video,

I'm still learning so this is what I'm thinking "Trim Rolls" are for.

Thanks again Kevin, yes I mention in the post that I don't talk much in the video. Some might jump a bit when all of the sudden I start talking LOL.
Like I said, first time making a screen cap video, so not so polished I think
I have been thinking about making another video on drilling and editing holes and such. Seems like a lot people are confused on how that works in SC. Maybe some day

I use a program called Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 Screen Capture.
It is free to download and make videos that are 10 minutes long IIRCC.
More than 10 minutes and you need to purchase the full version.
There are tutorials on YouTube if you search for them.
