Id love to see some more 4th axis tutorials. Especially using the new available features. Machining organic shapes, such as statues etc.

Hi Eric,
I think new users and others would benefit from tutorials on:

Workpiece - manipulating the workpiece, such as importing a model for the workpiece; adding stock to surfaces; changing the auto workpieces.

Functions under the Model tab - the seven functions from Intersect to Triangulate.

Suitable tasks for machining options - for each of the options, give examples of the type of tasks they are suited for; eg, 2D profiling is good for chamfering. Also perhaps comments on the tasks that an option is not suited for.

How about XML tweeks to undo default setting (V2007 and V7);
- 3 deg draft angle set to 0
- change trochoid to off
- safe level as default
- change Smart cut feed values

I have seen many examples of machining the "top" of a part. I have seen one example of machining the "sides" of a part.

For example, I would like to machine a Picantinny Rail (described on Wikipedia) without removing the part from the vise (to improve the accuracy). I would need to machine the part on top and both side, including some areas that are under an "overhang".

Can SprutCAM help with this kind of machining?

I'd really like to see tutorials that go through a particular machining operation (say roughing waterline) and explain all the settings on the parameters screen. It would be especially nice to have a description of when an option should be used and when it should not be used (e.g. trochoidal).

There is a ton of tutorials on the SprutCam forum. For $25 you can get access for a month then download them all. All very good tutorials.

That being said. I would love to see something like mentioned above on how to machine around fixtures and perhaps how to machine and use tabs or dropping parts.

I wish to see a tutorial with a part machined from different sites , not an 4th axis project , a normal part machined in a vise in few setups : top , bottom , left and right in one SprutCAM file , generating NC codes for each setup , making adjustments.

I'd like to see milling grooves, pockets and drilling a flat sided part using the 4th axis. Like a zig zag pattern that requires the 4th to rotate while machining.

i would like to see a tutorial on machining die surfaces (3d) and mold cavities.

I'll jump on this bandwagon as well. There are a few things I do just because I know it works correctly when I do it that way but without understanding why.

+1 I have trouble defining speeds/feeds in most commands. Normally going through the tutorials they just click on the settings without explanation.

I think a good one would be to use the new Rotary Machining (finishing) operation in SC7 to machine a simple cam with multiple passes. - Terry
